Machine Concepts Delivers Highly-Advanced, Servo-Driven Dual Axis Press-to-Press Robotic Transfer System

New, custom-built Servo-Driven Dual Axis Press-to-Press Robotic Transfer System with Custom Part Stacking System delivers maximum flexibility while increasing production rates.

Machine Concepts was chosen to build this highly-advanced system due to our wide range of expertise in press room, coil processing, mill and custom automation equipment.

Multiple Presses, Multi-Stage Production Line with Stacking 

Starting as a flat piece of material, this programmable, push-button operated system will advance parts through multiple presses in a multi-stage production line to produce and then stack the final parts. 

Located between the presses are individual transfer units each incorporating an internal part holding station and operating in the X and Z axis providing a seamless, state-of-the-art production system. 

The systems offered can incorporate a vacuum with blow-off release for non-metallic parts or electromagnets with reverse polarity release for metal parts. The strength of the electromagnets is adjustable, ensuring only one piece of material is captured and moved on the entry end of the line. Additionally, the entry system will automatically adjust the stack height as material is fed into the line. Conversely, on the exit end, the stacking system will also automatically adjust the stack height based on part thickness.

Maximum Flexibility and Three Modes of Operation

 The system allows for generous adjustments in both the X and Z axis to accommodate different tooling heights, center-to-center dimensions of different tooling and part sizes.

To increase production, the system is set up to allow for signals from the press before the transfer and after the transfer. This allows the transfer to pick up the part from the press prior to the transfer, while the press after the transfer is cycling. This ability eliminates wait time on both presses increasing throughput. 

To add further flexibility, the profile rails utilized allow for adjustment of the position of the end effector arm tooling for different parts sizes and tooling dimensions. To prevent tooling damage and to ensure that every part is captured and moved through the system, the end effector arm tooling incorporates sensors verifying each part is moved.   

To save costs and provide maximum flexibility, the system can be offered as individual transfer units between the presses or as a full-length waking beam system with servos located on the ends of the walking beam only. 

The system also has three modes of operation: auto cycle, working automatically with the stroke of the presses; single stroke on-demand; or manual, under full control of the operator.

The systems can be supplied with Allen Bradley, Siemens or Mitsubishi controls.  It comes standard with an expandable 99 job library for repeat jobs and a MobileView Tethered Operator Terminal.
